England April 1996

Manchester

These are pictures that I took during a business trip to Manchester England while I was working for Isocor. Isocor sent Doug Leavitt and me over to Manchester for a one week training session on something about LDAP directory servers. The training sessions were very long and dry. The sessions were conducted in an interior room with poor ventilation. The room was darkened most of the time so they could display a slide show. Add in the jet lag and it is amazing that I learned anything at all.

London

Our Training session ended Friday evening and we were scheduled to leave Manchester on Sunday morning. We were supposed to first fly to London and then back to L.A. There really isn't that much to do in Manchester so Doug and I decided to check out early and fly to London Friday night and spend Saturday sight-seeing in London. We managed to get hotel rooms in London that were cheaper than the ones that we had in Manchester. Doug and I started out sight-seeing together, but Doug had been to London before and wanted to check out some different places. We went to St. Paul's cathedral together, but I wanted to climb to the top and that is where Doug and I split up. The climb up to the top of St. Paul's is a bit strenuous and it is very narrow, but the view was well worth it. I enjoyed the Tower of London quite a bit.
