We are overjoyed to welcome into the world our granddaughter, Madison Marie Mitchell, who was born at 11.59 p.m. on May 17, 2006. (Talk about getting in under the wire!). She weighed in at 6 lbs. 2 oz. and was 18.5" long. As you can see, she's an absolute beauty. Maddi was born about 3 weeks early. Larry was in San Francisco attending a computer conference at the time Randy went into labor. When it appeared that Wednesday was going to be a birth day, he called up the his companies travel agent and made arrangements to leave that day. The agent got him a flight that went out at 8.20 p.m., but when he got to the airport, he found that the agent had booked the flight for the following day, but fortunately he was able to get an earlier flight, so he got on that, and Tom picked him up at the airport. (Thanks Tom!!!) Tom dropped Larry at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, and Larry went upstairs to visit with Randy. She was so happy to see her daddy. She'd been worried he wouldn't make it in time for the birth, but he certainly did. During the birth, it was just Randy and Ty, but when she was finished and Maddi's vitals had been taken and she was cleaned up a bit, Sara, Randy's best friend, Ty's parents Don and Patty, and we were able to meet the new little angel. As you can see, she is very alert and very beautiful, just like her mom was when she was born.
As for Randy, I think it's criminal that any woman look that good after 17 hours of labor! Just kidding. She and Ty are over the moon about their new daughter--and so are we.
