My
sister bought a new house several years ago but I hadn't been out to
visiter her and see her new house. It had been a long time since I had
been to Arizona and she had been out to visit me a number of times so
I felt like it was time for me to go out and visit her for a change.
Alcatel had given use the week off between Christmas and New Year so
I decided that it would be a good time to see her.

Nancy
took me around Phoenix on my first day there. The city was nicer than
I expected it to be. There was a lot of art around the city and a number
of pretty park like areas. Even the stores tended to have flowers and
fountains.

Nancy
took me to the Phoenix Art Museum which was much better than I thought
it would be. They had a number of minor works by major artists such
as Monet, Pissarro, Khola and O'Keeffe. The building itself was good.
It was open and reasonably good lighting. There was a Maxfield Parrish
there that was quite good. I had seen a number of prints of his work
but I don't recall ever seeing an original. The colors were spectacular,
much for vivid than anything that I had seen in the prints.

On
my second day Nancy took me to Scottsdale to see all of the artists
galleries. I saw a lot of nice paintings but nothing that I liked so
much that I was ready to by it. Still, one could be a nice original
work of art for several thousand dollars. The Scottsdale area was very
nice, with lots of flowers and parks.

Nancy
took me to Tempe, home of Arizona State University. She should me the
beach at Tempe which is an artifical beach built along an artifical
river.

On
my last day in Phoenix Nancy to me to a resort called Pointe of View
which has a restaurant on the top of a hill that overlooks all of Phoenix.
We went at dusk so we could have a drink and watch the sunset over Phoenix.
The restaurant was very nice and the resort looked like it would be
a good place to take Sally for a couple of days of R&R.
