My
sister Nancy told us about an exhibition that was visiting the Phoenix
Art Museum called "In Monet's Light: Theodore Robinson at Giverny".
This exhibition consisted of about 60 works by Theodore Robinson, an American
Impressionist painter. The exhibition also include 5 Monet paintings.
Sally and I decided that we would take a long weekend out to Phoenix to
see the paintings. A few of the Robinson paintings weren't bad, but for
me the highlight was the Monets, several of which were from private collections.

Since
my visit in December, Nancy had done some redecorating and painting. She
also had a wide variety of animals visiting the bird feeders in the backyard.
I also managed to get a couple of rare photos of her two cats together.
I say rare because Nancy's grey cat Dewey rarely makes an appearance,
although we managed to catch several glimpses of her during our visit,
and Larry actually touched her for a millisecond.

The
next day Nancy took us to the Desert Botanical Gardens because it was
the height of the desert flower season. When we arrived just about everything
was in bloom and the flowers were very pretty. Whoever said deserts were
dead didn't have a clue.

A
second reason for going the the Desert Botanical Garden was that there
was a special exhibition of butterflies. They had a very large tented
area and inside were thousands of butterflies. They didn't want people
picking up the butterflies because they didn't want to hurt the butterflies,
but they would like you hold out your hand and the butterflies would land
on your hand, or shoulder, camera, etc. It was fun for kids of all ages.
