California Science Center April 2004

Museum

I had never been to the Science Center, although Sally had seen the museum several times in the past. We went there on a hot day in April. The outside of the mueum is nice and the children at the museum seem to enjoy it quite a bit however I was a bit disappointed. Randy and I had recently been to the science musuem in London and the year before we had seen the science museum in Paris and both were much better than the one in L.A.

After visiting the museum Sally and I went to the IMAX theater which is right next to the Science Center to see a film on Coral Reefs which was good.

Bicycling on a High Wire

For $2 on can take a bicycle ride on a highwire at the Science Center. This is similar to the highwire acts that you would see in a circus. The bicycle is 3 stories off the ground although there is a net. They strap you into the bicycle and then you peddle over to the other side and back again. Then they rock you so that you bicycle sways from side to side as you traverse the wire again. It was amusing and I'm sure the kids would get a big kick out of it. Sally especially wanted me to go because there was a weight limit of 250 pounds on the ride and she wanted me to do something that Tom couldn't do.

Exposition Park Rose Garden

After we saw the film at the IMAX we went to the Rose Garden which is on the opposite side of the museum from the theater. The Rose Garden was quite nice. All of the roses were and bloom an hadn't yet wilted from the heat.
